To: All Manitoba Locals, NVP's, RVP's, Committee members and PRC Representatives We are currently working on putting together our 2018 Manitoba Fall Education schedule. We will be offering a Talking Union Basic (TUB) and a Grievance Handling early in the fall so we are looking for other needs identified by your local members. As a reminder here are the courses that were offered Winter 2018 course were: Talking Union Basic January 19 and 20 Grievance handling February 10 and 1 Political Action Course February 23-25

This Friday night/Saturday course is the union’s key “introductory” education event. If you have wondered what it means to be a union member, how the PSAC works, and what happens to your dues dollars, then Talking Union Basics provides answers to these questions. The course also introduces the collective agreement, your employee rights and your rights as a member of the PSAC. We also look at why we file grievances and what the process is like.

Below is a listing of courses being offered from January to April 2018. To register for any course, please go to the course event that you are interested in and use the register online feature to complete your registration. An email will confirm that you are registered for that course. Once the registration deadline has passed, you will receive a separate confirmation email with more information specific to the course event being offered.

VIOLENCE PREVENTION IN FEDERALLY AND PROVINCIALLY REGULATED WORKPLACES Saturday March 17 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Sunday March 18 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Deadline: Wednesday February 28, 2018

POLITICAL ACTION COURSE FOR ACTIVISTS Friday Feb 23 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Saturday Feb 24 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Sunday Feb 25 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Deadline: Tuesday February 13, 2018 Join other PSAC members in Manitoba and take a leadership role in ensuring that the rights of our members are a critical priority in the upcoming months. At stake is the future of the public service and civil society at large.

GRIEVANCE HANDLING Saturday Feb 10 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Sunday Feb 11 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Deadline: Wednesday January 24, 2018 This two-day course for union stewards will develop participants’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in effectively solving problems at the workplace. A major portion of time will be spent on the relevant technical skills i.e. identifying, investigating, writing up, and presenting grievances
