This course is broken into 3 workshops and is designed to provide Union Stewards some additional experience and confidence in the following areas. Only parts of the full courses will be examined.
You must attend the entire weekend and can not attend individual sessions.
Friday night – Effective Union Mangement Meetings
We will explore how to be effective in our role as union reps at union and management meetings, grievance hearings or health and safety committees. We will look at different approaches to ensure we are effectively preparing and communicating our needs in order to obtain positive outcome for our members.
Saturday morning – Bullying in the Workplace
The session will focus on knowing what workplace bullying is; to understand the impact of bullying on individuals and the overall workplace culture and to be able to name individual and collective strategies for dealing with bullying.
Saturday afternoon - Workplace Conflict Resolution
Know what a respectful workplace is and the role of effective conflict resolution in maintaining a healthy environment; know some strategies for effective conflict resolution. Be able to support one another to develop and maintain a healthy work environment.
