Calgary Area Council gives back with the Work Sock Project

The Calgary Area Council finished up its Work Sock Project in perfect timing just before Christmas. With temperatures plummeting to -33C with windchill, the warm woolies aimed to not only keepy toes warm, but hearts, as well, during the holiday season.

CAC members, Jacqueline Moody (CIU 30036) and Jenna Adams (UNE 30186) heard the call from the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre (a shelter for the homeless or at risk) and put the 'workers helping workers' call out to Locals for socks of all shapes and sizes, including work socks, sport socks, and warm socks. Members from Passport Canada and Canada Border Services Agency stepped up in a big way.

With the stuffing of treats like soap, shampoo, mitts, toques, and sweets, two boxes of approximately 50 Christmas socks were handed over for gift giving to those people hosted by the Centre, with an additional 30 pairs of socks also given for the Centre to stock for future distribution.
