Each year union-sponsored summer camps combine summer activities with educational activities. Children of trade unionists have an exciting opportunity to learn about unions, while making new friends and participating in fun, recreational summer activities such as hiking, canoeing, and swimming.
The PSAC Prairie Region has historically funded at least one child to each of the respective Federation of Labour Kids Camps. As well as funding PSAC members’ children to the camp we anticipate that we will be able to cover the cost of a camp councilor.
We have been asked by both the Federations and PSAC members themselves to fund members to attend as councilors to give them the opportunity to volunteer at the camps. Although the budget may not fully fund a camp councilor, it will go a long way to ensure PSAC’s involvement.
The deadline to submit applications is Friday, May 30 at noon. Applicants will be notified if their child has been selected for the subsidy, or they have been selected as a councilor.
