Invitation to the Area Council Budget Watch

To: All Winnipeg and Area Local Presidents, RVP, NVP, Branch President, PRC Reps From: Winnipeg Area Council Invitation to the Area Council Budget Watch Tuesday March 22, 2016 from 1:00 pm to approx 4:30 pm Winnipeg Regional Office 175 Hargrave St The Liberal government will bring down its first full budget on Tuesday, 22 March. While the government made many promises on the campaign trail last year it remains to be seen just how many of those promises will be referenced in the budget document. While we were promised that many of the public services that were chopped during the Harper years would be restored we are well aware there are fiscal realities that have to be faced. What the budget will mean for us is still anyone’s guess. On Tuesday March 22 your Area Council will host a Budget Watch at the regional office where we will watch the budget presentation and attempt to get a feel for what it means for us as the providers of public services. We expect the budget to be presented around 2:00 pm Winnipeg time but we have not been able to confirm that as of yet. The area council team will be at the PSAC boardroom from 1:00 pm onward and we invite anyone who is interested to come join us.
