Every year, PSAC members invest in their communities by supporting their local United Way. Annual fundraising drives have kicked off across the Prairie Region and we’re asking Prairies members to reach into their pockets and continue their pattern of giving generously to an important community-focused charity.

Each year on October 4, communities across Canada come together to honour the lives of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls. As we do so, we remember the lives of sisters, daughters, mothers and grandmothers tragically taken from us. We also support grieving families and provide opportunities for healing.

The Calgary Day of Action was held at Sandy Beach Park and was attended by many PSAC members, allies, and families. On September 15 the Public Service Alliance of Canada held a National Day of Action from coast to coast to coast. PSAC members, community advocates and concerned citizens alike gathered together at various events across the Prairies to celebrate the public services they value most. These services are being jeopardized or damaged by the ongoing federal cuts. We are ALL affected by the cuts to federal services and jobs imposed by the Conservative government.

September 15, 2012 is PSAC's National Day of Action with special events happening throughout the Prairie Region and across the country to highlight the We Are ALL Affected campaign.Join community members, labour organizations, public service workers and their families for a national day of action to protest cuts made to  federal responsibilities such as food inspection, Old Age Security, the environment, parks, health care, search and rescue, assistance to our veterans, border security and transportation safety.

Labour Day is a time to recognize the contributions of workers and their unions and their collective efforts to build stronger, safer communities for everyone. This year, on September 3, PSAC members attended and volunteered at various events throughout the Prairie Region to recognize the annual event.

Pride 2012 celebrations have been happening across the Prairie Region throughout the summer. Pride month is a time to build community, increase visibility, and celebrate diversity within the GLBT community. But it’s also a time to celebrate the dedicated and focused GLBT activists and their allies who fight against discrimination and defend equality, and to recognize their achievements.
