Day of Action Report & Photos (Northern Saskatchewan)

NORTHERN SASKATCHEWAN

101 22nd Street, Saskatoon, SK – 40-50 people attended, with Marianne Hladun, Alternate Regional Executive Vice-President for the PSAC Prairie Region, Larry Hubich, President of the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour, and Alex Furlong, CLC Prairies Regional Director, speaking. Members walked with signs, wore black in the workplace, and posted a banner on the union bulletin board. The RWC, AC and Local 40022 provided a lunch for the participants. A slice of pizza for those who wanted one and a healthy brown bag snack that contained an apple, snack bar and a juice box. The bags were packaged in advance by a group of members who took their own leave to come in and prepare them. They were decorated with the Hands Off Our Pensions! and Standing Together stickers.

John E MacDonald Building, 3601 5th Avenue East, Prince Albert, SK - Three locals provided a BBQ lunch for those that participated. Approximately 35-40 members participated. Media attended and Tim Hogan, Prince Albert Area Council PRC Representative, spoke with the Prince Albert Daily Herald.

Parks Canada, Batoche National Historic Site - UNE members from the Parks Batoche site attended an IWD day event where they had an opportunity to speak to sisters in attendance about the Day of Action.

Thank you to all of the locals for participating in this important action. We admire the courage and persistence of all of the Sisters and Brothers who wore a sticker, waved a flag, or put on a black arm band, and collectively rallied together to take a stand against the damaging austerity agenda of this government.
