Day of Action Report & Photos (Southern Alberta)

SOUTHERN ALBERTA

Harry Hays Building, Calgary AB – Even on a very bitter, windy day, federal public sector workers were out in Calgary defending our rights and public services. Members of UTE, UNHW, AGR, and others gathered outside the Harry Hays Building. Sister Ashlea Ducharme, Youth Rep for UTE 300324, encouraged the members to be proud of the work they do and to tell this government that enough is enough. Brother Alec Goertzen, Calgary Area Council PRC Representative, and current Acting Regional Representative, provided interviews to the Calgary Sun and QR77 AM.

Airport Corp. Centre, Calgary AB - The Tax Services Office had small support of about six employees to stand together, but the public access is away from the main access to Airport Terminal.

Tax Services Office, Lethbridge AB - Despite cold winds, over 50 members from UTE local 30027, along with brothers and sisters from both PIPSC, CUPW and Fisheries and Oceans, demonstrated outside of their office in Lethbridge. Reactions from the public were favorable and many honks of support were received from passing motorists. Brother Greg Krokosh, Chair of the PSAC Lethbridge Area Council, provided interviews to CTV and Global TV, while the Lethbridge Herald sent a photographer.

Agri Research Centre, Lethbridge AB - Members of AGR 30048 stood in solidarity with brothers and sisters of PIPSC at the Agricultural Research Centre in Lethbridge. Sister Michelle Coe, Agriculture Regional Vice-President for Southern Alberta, addressed the members who gathered together.

Thank you to all of the locals for participating in this important action. We admire the courage and persistence of all of the Sisters and Brothers who wore a sticker, waved a flag, or put on a black arm band, and collectively rallied together to take a stand against the damaging austerity agenda of this government.
