Since 2016, over 200,000 federal public service workers and their families across Canada have been impacted by Phoenix. Federal Public Service workers show up every day to deliver the crucial services that Canadians depend on—even when they stop getting paid. These workers and their families have suffered financial and emotional fallout from the Phoenix pay system disaster.
When Phoenix was implemented, we know some of our members who had not been paid properly - endured the pain of being unable to provide for their loved ones. Some had the hard choice or last alternative to use the services of their local food bank just to have food on their table.
To support and help our community, the PSAC Calgary Area Council is hosting a Food Drive in support of our members affected by the Phoenix pay system in the past.
This is our opportunity to PAY IT FORWARD to ensure that local food banks are available for anyone in our communities who finds themselves in need. #PSACPayItForward
Oct 22 and 24 – Harry Hayes Atrium*
PSAC will host a donation station for those wanting to drop off a donation at work: Time: 11:30 am to 1:30 pm
*Non-perishable food donations only please
Oct 23 – PSAC Regional Office*
PSAC will host a drive-thru station for those wishing to drop off donation after workday. Time: 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
* Non-perishable food donations only please
We recognize that our PSAC members extend across many workplaces in the city of Calgary, and so those members wanting to donate items may not get to donation stations on the stated dates.
So…the Calgary Area Council would like to challenge all Calgary Locals and Components to make a monetary donation in lieu of a non-perishable food donation to the Food Bank.
Cheques can be dropped off at any of the PSAC host donation stations during the week of Oct 22 to 25.
**All donations of food and cheques received will be taken directly to the Calgary Food Bank on October 25th.
