Defending Trans Members’ Rights in the Workplace

In this three-hour workshop participants will define Trans, Gender Identity, Gender Expression and build their understanding of the trans experience to foster compassion as a steward. Participants will understand the steward’s role when a member transitions from one gender to another and gain an understanding of the employer’s responsibilities during worker transitions. Participants will review collective agreement language and understand the laws that protect trans workers. Participants will gain the basic knowledge and tools to properly represent a transitioning member.
