Keeping up with welcoming and doing orientation for new union members can be a challenge, during these new ways of working times. Some new staff work from home while others work in areas that mandate, for H&S reasons physical distancing. Then there is the challenge of meeting up with staff who work some weeks at home and then some weeks in the office.
This workshop is intended for the stewards and local executive who meet new union members. We hope that each local in this region will send at least one union representative to attend this 90 - minute workshop.
During the workshop we will be unveiling our new PSAC Prairie’s Orientation Kit. Discussion will revolve around key components of a good orientation presentation – what makes an orientation session specific and unique to your local. Time is set aside to practice doing an orientation session. We will also contrast and compare virtual versus in person orientation sessions.
