The PSAC and the United Way Labour Program are offering a new (pilot) course for union representatives:

Saturday December 8th and Sunday December 9th

Course Description:

Facilitated by staff from the United Way’s Labour Program, this two day course is designed for union representatives who want to help workers affected by the workforce adjustment process identify and access appropriate community resources and supports.

Modeled, in part, on the Labour Community Advocate (LCA) program, the course will cover the following topics:

  • the impact of adjustment on workers, their families and the workplace
  • the LCA role and the qualities required to fulfill this role
  • how workers cope with adjustment
  • how impact and coping can vary based on values, beliefs and experience
  • supportive communication
  • identifying and referring workers to appropriate resources and services
