Report to the Prairie Region Council
October 2012
The following report will summarize in point form my activities as from the period of March – August 2012.
March 2012:
- National Day of Action held at Canada Place for members in the Edmonton Area. Event was well attended drawing upwards of 300 members to come out and demonstrate.
- Attended Area Council Meeting
- Attempted Plantgate for budget information (failed due to weather and only two people to cover Canada Place)
- Made appointment to speak with MP (appointment cancelled by MP's office)
April 2012:
- Attended Area Council Meeting
- Attended PSAC National Triennial Convention
- Participated in Convention Committee conference call for the 2014 Prairie Region Triennial Convention
- Made appointment to speak with MP (appointment cancelled by MP's office twice)
May 2012:
- Attended Area Council Meeting
- Participated in Convention Committee conference call for the 2014 Prairie Region Triennial Convention
- Began organizing for Alternate National Public Service Week (NPSW) event to held in Edmonton
- Attended meeting for Local Presidents in Edmonton area (re: WFA)
June 2012:
- Attended Area Council meeting
- Plantgate for boycott of employer NPSW events
- Successfully held NPSW event “A Cupcake Affair” in Canada Place with four other Locals within Edmonton having cupcakes provided to their locations (Non-Canada Place) to celebrate NPSW
July 2012:
- I was off for Care & Nurturing Leave. Nothing further to report for the month.
August 2012:
- Participated in Convention Committee conference call for the 2014 Prairie Region Triennial Convention
- Attempted to arrange table for Fringe Festival to have information booth – Fail. Requests had to be in before the beginning of April.
- Attempted to have volunteers hand out campaign materials at Fringe – Fail. Weather issues and volunteers cancelled (multiple days).
