On October 31, 2012, the Joint Learning Program (JLP) reached 2,000 workshops delivered. This represents over 40,000 participants from over 50 organizations, around 4,000 organizers, and 4,000 opportunities of facilitation.
The demand for JLP has been growing The last 1,000 workshops were delivered in 30 months between April 2010 and October 2012. In comparison the first 1,000 were delivered in 40 months between January 2007 and March 2010. In the Prairie Region, 289 workshops have been delivered.
The accomplishment is a reflection of the program vitality and its reputation in the federal public service. This milestone has been reached because thousands of people in the public service are committed to fostering dialogue and improving labour relations.
The JLP objectives include improving labour relations and increasing understanding of the roles of management and the union in the federal Public Service. The JLP achieves its objectives by offering workshops in areas of mutual interest. The JLP offers workshops in six areas: Understanding the Collective Agreement, Union-Management Consultation, Creating a Harassment-free Workplace, Respecting Differences/Anti-discrimination, Employment Equity and Duty to Accommodate: Building an Inclusive Workplace.
Since the last round of collection bargaining in 2011, all union members and their supervisors within the Core Public Administration are eligible to participate in the JLP.
