Leading Change was held in Winnipeg, January 30-31, 2015. The course was designed to address leadership in the challenging political climate we are currently faced with and was offered in six regions of the PSAC.
The two-day course brought together more than 40 leaders who will help move our union forward, including those elected to Component Executives, Regional Councils, NAPC, and the National Human Rights Committee.
Participants shared experiences and learned from each other, while gaining new skills to do their work differently and support the priorities identified by PSAC's National Board of Directors. There was a specific focus on organizing members to be ready to face the challenges ahead and working more effectively with locals and members.
"There's a real desire for everyone to work together, and to maintain the network that we've already built and continue to build on," said Marianne Hladun, Regional Executive Vice-President for the PSAC Prairie Region, following the course. "It's clear that leaders are creating their own opportunities, which is the best way for us to grow stronger."
Stemming from this course, there will be a variety of training opportunities for activist members in the coming months. Details of these opportunities will be listed on the PSAC Prairies website as they are available.
