Lethbridge activists prevail in no drilling fight

Anti drilling activists in Lethbridge are breathing a collective sigh of relief after Calgary based Golden Key Oil withdrew its application for exploratory wells on the city’s west side.

Thousands have been rallying against urban drilling within city limits for months, including many PSAC members in the community, who pitched in by attending demonstrations and collecting signatures. Activists collected more than 13,000 signatures.

PSAC/Agriculture Local 30048 in Lethbridge donated funds to the effort, as did the Lethbridge and District Labour Council and other unions and community groups.

For more information on the community achievement, watch the news story on Global Lethbridge. Keep an eye out for the PSAC flags at rallies.
