Saskatoon Airport Authority and workers reach deal

SASKATOON, SK – Flight times will continue as scheduled as the members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada at the Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport accept the Saskatoon Airport Authority’s latest offer.

“I think Saskatoon Airport Authority realized that what these workers were asking for wasn't at all unreasonable” says Robyn Benson, Regional Executive Vice-President for the PSAC Prairie Region. “They only wanted what was fair and on par with other airports in the Prairies. We’re happy the employer agreed to return to the table.”

The PSAC represents 24 airport workers including, among others, mechanics, electricians and heavy equipment operators. They have been without a contract since June 30, 2010 and the two parties had been in negotiations since September.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada represents 1,808 airport workers and more than 172,000 workers across Canada, the majority of whom are in the federal public sector.
