Meet the 2014-17 Prairie Region Council

The Prairie Region Council (PRC) identifies and addresses needs and issues important to the Prairie Region members.

In accordance with the PSAC Prairie Region By-Laws, the PRC representatives and their alternates shall be nominated and elected in caucus at the Prairie Region Triennial Convention by delegates from the geographic area, self-identified equity group, or other group they are to represent.

In the case of the eight Area Council Reps, the representatives and their alternates shall be nominated and elected at an election meeting no later than one month before the Prairie Region Triennial Convention.

All representatives and alternates were sworn in and took office at the end of the Prairie Region Triennial Convention in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on June 29, 2014.

For the first time, 2nd alternates were elected at the 2014 Prairie Region Triennial Convention held in Saskatoon.

This decision arose from Resolution BL-017 "2nd Alernate for PRC Positions", which reads as follows: 

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Prairie Region By-Laws be amended to establish the position of a 2nd Alternate to the positions of the Geographic Rep, Regional Women’s Committees Rep, Equity Group Reps (Aboriginal Peoples, Persons with Disabilities, Racially Visible Persons and Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Persons), Directly Chartered Locals Rep, Young Workers Rep, Separate Employer Rep and Area Council Rep

Convention delegates passed the resolution and 2nd Alternates were elected and sworn in alongside Reps and Alternates.
