Members working for CFIA call on employer to "Negotiate Now!'

On February 6 PSAC returned to the bargaining table with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Throughout the Prairies and across Canada, PSAC’s CFIA members joined demonstrations at workplaces across the country in a massive show of support for their bargaining team.

Members in Regina, Saskatoon and Brooks wore stickers bearing the slogan "Negotiate Now" to encourage the employer to reach a fair and equitable agreement with employees. Members were excited to partipate in the action and show a united front.

After more than 27 months at the bargaining table, and the two most recent days of hard bargaining, a tentative agreement has finally been reached.

Over 4,000 members work at CFIA. They perform a wide variety of jobs, including meat, poultry and produce inspection. They monitor and audit the federally regulated inspection programs of the food industry in Canada and enforce federal laws. Our members at the CFIA also run the offices, maintain the equipment and buildings, and carry out the administrative work of the CFIA.
