Prairie School for Union Women 2018

Dear Sisters,

PSAC is proud to offer funding to one union sister to participate in the annual Prairie School for Union Women (PSUW). This funding is available through the memorial scholarship established in the name of Sister Judy Shannon and will cover the costs of registration, travel and loss of salary.

Sister Judy Shannon passed away in November 2016 and had always been a passionate educator, dedicated activist and an exceptional regional education officer. She had been an advocate and facilitator for the PSUW for years. We are grateful to be able to honour her dedication to education and passion for the PSUW with the establishment of this annual scholarship in her name.

Over the years, the highly acclaimed PSUW has been a progressive and inspirational event for women who want to take a more active role in their unions. It features an intensive four days of learning and sharing to develop women’s personal and leadership skills and to build solidarity among women workers.

Online applications for funding under the memorial scholarship must be completed by Monday, April 16, 2018 at noon. The successful applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application by Monday, April 23, 2018.

This year, the PSUW takes place from June 10-14, 2018 at Waskesiu Lake, Saskatchewan. For further information on the conference, workshops and schedule, see the attached brochure.
