Tell Your MP: Honour the 100th Anniversary of the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike With a Coin for Circulation

The 1919 Winnipeg General Strike was a formative moment for the labour movement in Canada. On May 15th of that year some 30,000 workers took to the streets to draw attention to the cruelty of their working conditions, chronic unemployment and the indifference of government to the plight of working people.

Next year, 2019, is the 100th Anniversary of this crucial event. We believe that all Canadians should remember this important period in labour history in our country. That is why PSAC - Prairie Region and GSU Local 50057  are calling on the Royal Canadian Mint to develop a coin for circulation to commemorate the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike and the efforts of working people to build a better life for all.

Please contact your MP and help us to make this a reality. Tell your MP you believe that the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg should produce a coin for circulation throughout Canada to commemorate the importance of the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike to all workers then and now.
