PSAC REGINA WOMEN’S COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

Review and Approval of previous meeting’s Minutes
 
ACTION ITEM: Michelle will provide minutes from 
April 5, 2018 meeting at the next RWC meeting.
 
Financial Report – Treasurer
 
Bank Balance: $2,337.68 
 
Old Business
 
• Mother’s Day walk & Pancake Breakfast was a success. The unused pancake mix was donated to the Justice for Stolen Children Camp at Wascana Park.
 
New Business and Upcoming Events
 
International Woman’s Day Friday March 8, 2019
 
ACTION ITEM: Michelle will check with the SFL to see if the RWC can partner with them for International Women’s Day.
 
Vigil for Montreal Massacre victims will be held December 6, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:30at the St Paul’s Cathedral 1859 McIntyre Street Regina.
 
White Pony Lodge Patrol - gathering items for women: Mitts/Gloves, Scarves, condoms ect.
 
Sandra moved that RWC spend $100.00 purchasing mitts/gloves, scarves, socks and condoms for 25 women that are street workers in the North Central area of Regina. Seconded by Michelle.
 
Sandra shared that: The White Pony Lodge volunteers in North Central Regina Patrol the community gathering needles and helping to keep their neighborhood safe while also checking in on the street workers. They will be gathering donations to give each woman or man a package/gift over the holiday season.
 
ACTION ITEM:
 
Michelle will contact one of the unionized hotels in Regina to see if they will donate toiletries to include in the packages.
 
Sandra and Dani will contact Planned Parenthood, SWAP and the Sexual Health Clinic to ask for donations of Condoms to include in the packages. 
 
Self Defense for Women
 
Members have been asking if the RWC will be hosting another Women’s Self Defense workshop.  The RWC will look at dates in February 2019 to offer the workshop.
 
ACTION ITEM:
Michelle will contact the instructors to see if they are available in February.
 
 
November 26 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Ramada Hotel in downtown Regina there will be a Fight for 15 information session.
 
Roundtable
 
Martha Johnson mentioned that the PSAC Regional Office is missing many of the PSAC fabric flags.  The office had approximately 20 flags and is down to 6 flags.  Martha is asking members, who have the flags, to return them to the PSAC office. Further, if Martha sees members with flags at rallies and other events she will be taking those flags at the close of the event and returning them to the PSAC office. In the future anyone wishing to borrow a flag from the office will have to sign out the flags so that PSAC regional staff can keep track of their flag inventory.
