Leila White, to our dismay, has stepped down as Chair.
Election:
Corinne McKay acclaimed as Chair
Audrey Berlovan acclaimed as Secretary
Tasha Felix acclaimed as Treasurer
Tamara Young – Communications Officer
Discussion regarding times for meetings – continue with 3rd Tuesday of every other month for timing. Tamara to find a way to post events on Social Media:
January 15, 2019 – Planning meeting
March 19, 2019 – Moontime Sisters
May 21, 2019 – MMIWG (Women Walking Together)
July 16, 2019 – No plan
September 17, 2019 – Crisis Nursery
November 19, 2019 – no plan yet
Banking update and planning follow up – Audrey, Tasha, Corinne.
Regional Women’s Committee mandate for new business. Tasha requested that the mandate be posted and shared. Meetings need presentations/purpose.
Other Activities suggested:
• Defense Class – refresher?
• Moontime Work Bee (sewing circle as another activity to support – stitch and bitch project; pussy hats?)
• Invite Nicole White – Moontime Sisters – to speak and offer to support the work bee again this year
• Crisis Nursery – donation, support, invite to talk Sept 17
• Mothers’ Centre – support, invite
• YWCA Women’s Shelter – invite, support
• Family sponsorship – Christmas, sports, etc
• MMIW – Myrna LaPlante Co Chair of Women Walking Together - May 21 (Brenda Brittain will approach Myrna) Summer Snack Program… May is a good time to discuss our commitment to Summer Snack program.

Why Regional Women’s Committees?
• to inform and educate women on the political, social, economic, and workplace issues that affect them;
• to speak for women with a strong, common voice and advocate policies that promote all women’s rights;
• to mobilize women to participate in the union and take action on the issues;
• to empower women with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to exercise effective leadership;
• to support women through a network that links them to each other, to the union, and to the community; and
• to work side by side with racialized & Aboriginal women, lesbians, bisexual & transgender women and women with disabilities to advance real equality and make the PSAC an inclusive union.
