General Meeting June 4th, 2019 – Meeting Minutes

In attendance: Krysty Thomas (Munns) (30048) President; Stephanie Erb (30048); Ray Wilson (30048); Danielle Poissant (30907), Karen Mah (30048), Brigitte Renaud (30048), Adesoji Fayemiwo (30048).

1. Call to Order – 6:05pm
2. Approval of the Agenda:

   1. Minutes from March 4th have already been approved and forward to Regional Office
4. Treasurer Report

6. Updates from the PRC
   1. Sister Krysty Thomas gave a brief report from the PRC Face-to-Face Meeting in Winnipeg. The PRC attended 1919 Strike Celebrations and heard from PSAC leaders Chris Aylward and Magali Picard regarding the Phoenix compensation and the state of Bargaining.
   2. Finance Committee would like to put forward a motion that funds from the 2020 unallocated surplus of up to $9,000.00 be used to fund a 1-1/2 day meeting to review and make recommendations to the Prairie Region REVP on the Area Council and Prairie Region Committee financial packages.
   3. That the PRC approve up to $90,000.00 from Deferred Revenue to hold 5 strategic planning/financial training sessions as follows:
      1. one two-day session per Regional Office will be held in Sept/Oct. 2019 during the regular work week
      2. up to 4 executive members from each committee and area council in the regional office area will be fully funded
      3.  all PRC members will be fully funded
      4. Regional Reps assigned to committees and area councils will attend funded through   the Regional Office
      5. at least one member of the PRC Finance Committee will attend each session
   4. New policy of record retention, formal document will be provided to committees once completed.
   5.  Prairies 2020 Convention Timeline
      1. Important dates/deadlines:
         1. June 14, 2019 – Issue 1st bulletin to Locals to explain process and advise of registration deadline
         2. December 2, 2019 – Convention call-out & launch online registration. PRC Reps are responsible to register themselves online
         3. January 31, 2020 – Resolutions Deadline/Deadline for Prairie Voice Award Submissions
         4. March 1, 2020 – Registration deadline
         5. March 15, 2020 – Deadline for registration fee
         6. March 30, 2020 – Post resolutions, financials, and reports to the Prairies website
         7. June 12-14, 2020 – Prairie Region Triennial Convention

      1. Danielle to look into Medicine Hat Pride Events
   2. National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21)
      1. Events organized at workplaces
   3. Whoop up Days Parade (Aug 20)
      1. Area Council to join us with Lethbridge and District Labour Council to walk in the parade
   4. Lethbridge Electronic Music Festival (Aug 17)
      1. Krysty to look into getting a table
   5. Labour Day (September 2)
      1. Volunteers needs to support PSAC tent/table/cotton candy.
