8. Budget
- Requesting 6 meetings (instead of 8 or the mandated 4)
Moved by Sr. Yvonne, seconded Sr. Faye
- Seasonal Celebration, previously held by HR. Should be women’s committee turn but AGM had to be rescheduled Br. Gus feels we should take this years. Tabled by Chair for clarification from Sr. Sheilagh via phone. Sr. Sheilagh said there currently isn’t in RWC budget proposal.
Moved by Sr. Christine, seconded by Br. Nestor
- Political Speaker/Motivator, was previously rejected. Important to labour movement that union is involved in politics. Br. Gus hoping to get Flin Flon MLA as speaker. Attendance would be open to people to all committees.
Moved by Br. Nestor, Seconded by Sr. Faye
- Remembrance day wreath, hoping Br. Frank would continue to take the lead. Looking to purchase wreath from Legion as money would go directly to them.
Moved by Br. Nestor, seconded by Br. Brett
- Bear clan spring cleanup, proposed by Sr. Sheilagh Hanson. Concern regarding who is doing collection? Confusion regarding cost breakdown from Sr. Sheilagh. Possibly providing donation instead. We would need to follow up with Bear clan regarding cost of donation. Tabled by Chair for clarification from Sr. Sheilagh via phone. Fees possibly waved by city councillor or MLA, could also inform dumping site and have fees waived. Money proposed would be for supplies and truck rental. Suggestion that line item instead be brought to Regional Women’s Committee as it would give Sr. Sheilagh more time to complete a proposal. Also WAC is taking Seasonal Celebration.
Move to not accept budget line from our budget and pass to RWC for review/approval by Br. Nestor, seconded by Sr. Christine
- Pubic service week barbecue, Br. Gus’ written proposal attached
LOS based on previous BBQ (2018) for Br. Gus & Br. Greg Ballendine
Br. Frank Janz looked into price for BBQ rental, drop off and pick up of grill all included in proposed cost
Possibility of this taking place around time of strike vote or bargaining team being in Ottawa and having barbecue before convention
Barbecue to happen around the time of NPSW (late may/early june)
Moved by Sr. Christine, seconded by Sr. Faye

Manitoba Marathon did not charge previously as they appreciated the volunteers but no guarantees

Full Budget proposal moved by Sr. Faye, seconded by Br. Nestor
Question regarding Santa Claus Parade not being included
- Not included this year as it would not be approved if proposed
