Calgary Area Council Meeting Minutes November 26, 2013

Meeting started promptly at 5:30pm
Treasurer Position:
Area Council pleased to announce the new Treasurer, Phillip Chan. Welcome.
Conservative Convention:
October 31st – November 2nd this event was part of our action to advise of our dissatisfaction – Omnibus Bills. Thru the REVP office, we rented out space across from the Convention Centre at Stampede Park for all attending and our platform for speakers. The day was great and said to be a huge success with attendance by the National President, Robyn Benson and Prairies REVP, Marianne Hladun. even with the bad weather. Attendance was 400-500 people. Thank you to everyone’s efforts. CLOSED
Municipal Election:
Took place in October. Not too many ridings were targeted. Encouraged members to vote labor friendly. Email sent to all locals in the area with info provided by the Calgary District Labor Council. CLOSED
Financial Report:
Passing on this at this time as audit coming up at the end of the year.
New Business:
Regional Convention June 27-29, 2014.
Convention call has not officially come out yet. At next AGM we may need to look at any resolutions coming through Area Council as the approving body. Resolutions should be presented before the Area Council AGM being held in February. Area Council would like them to be in by January 31st so think about resolutions to be presented to the Regional Office.
