2. Discuss the PSAC priorities
a. Give ideas to our local PRC Reps on how we can fulfill the priorities here.
ii. Sister Fitzpatrick mentions that the Alberta Health Care Workers are having a rally at 12pm on October 16, 2014 at the Regional Hospital.
iii. Sister Fitzpatrick asked for support from members who live in the riding of Lethbridge East as she is seeking the NDP nomination for that riding.
iv. Went it comes to funding activities from the Region for LAC or any other committees in Lethbridge, Brother Krokosh will be our voice to get the funding.
v. Brother Krokosh mentions that the Regional OSH Rep will be held Health and Safety meetings throughout the Region.

RESOLUTION (1):
FAMILY CARE ALLOWANCE - RESTRICTIONS
ORIGINATOR: LETHBRIDGE & DISTRICT AREA COUNCIL
LANGUAGE OF ORIGIN: ENGLISH
WHEREAS Family Care Allowance “restrictions” limit the care of family members who require family care to outside agencies. “The FCA shall not normally be paid for services provided by a spouse or relative residing with the claimant” – PSAC policy 25; and
WHEREASthe PSAC does allow payment for family care allowance (FCA) with receipt, it does not allow reimbursement of care costs associated with family care provided by a relative in the same home; and
WHEREASas this stands, this is a systemic barrier for a number of our members (would be activists) involvement in union activities; therefore:
BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Public Service Alliance of Canada removes this barrier by amending the definition of a family care provider to be: Any person who provides this care with a receipt.
RESOLUTION (2):
NATIONAL ABORIGINAL DAY AS STATUTORY HOLIDAY
ORIGINATOR: LETHBRIDGE & DISTRICT AREA COUNCIL
LANGUAGE OF ORIGIN: ENGLISH
WHEREAS the Aboriginal community in Canada has provided all Canadians with a rich and meaningful cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS the Aboriginal peoples are not fully recognized for their contribution to Canadian heritage; and
WHEREAS June 21st is National Aboriginal Day; therefore:
BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Public Service Alliance of Canada campaigns and lobbies the federal government to ensure that June 21st, National Aboriginal Day be declared a national statutory holiday.
RESOLUTION (3):
CHANGES TO WORKFORCE SURVEY TO INCLUDE EQUITY SEEKING GROUPS
ORIGINATOR: LETHBRIDGE & DISTRICT AREA COUNCIL
LANGUAGE OF ORIGIN: ENGLISH
WHEREAS the main evaluation tool -in the Federal Public Service- is based on the Public Service Employee Survey (PSES); and
WHEREASthis survey does not ask respondents if they wish to identify as equity seeking members. It is believed that PSES data on equity seeking members would help the union make links with any ongoing discrimination against equity group members such as bullying in the workplace; and
WHEREAS employment equity legislation addresses a need to provide protection and ensure an equitable and representative workforce, and provides protection for all minorities in society; therefore:
BE IT RESOLVED THAT PSAC lobby the Federal Government to include OPTIONAL questions TO IDENTIFY equity seeking groups in the next workforce survey.
