6.  Presidents Report

  • Had PRC meeting here in Winnipeg, 2 of our executive members attended as observers (Greg and Lorelei)
  • A resolution was referred back to us (protective re-assignment for pregnant and nursing women), the 1st “be it resolved” is a bargaining demand and should be sent to the bargaining table, Gloria noted that an almost identical resolution went to last triennial and this shows the difference of opinions between the 2 national presidents

7.  Treasurer Report – 2015 Budget

  • Not much of a change since last report, $125 less than before

7a. Darlene with Assiniboine Credit Union about a deposit-only card – yes, it is do-able.  Gus will check with Marianne to see if it’s OK.

8.  Social Justice Fund Projects for 2015

  • Ndinaway buying kitchen equipment for the youth center kitchen, ($2,000) and Gloria to to and take pictures.  Tracy asked if they knew that receipts were required, Gus said yes, they knew.
  • We still need another project to spend the remaining funds ($2,150).
  • Chris mentioned that he knew of a number of members that are excited about the idea of helping out with the creation of garden boxes at Ndinaway or CARD.
  • Please bring more ideas to the next meeting.
  • Social Justice funding is under the Anti-Poverty umbrella (funds are available).
  • Tracy to send by e-mail Social Justice Fund information so that we all have it.
  • A few schools were mentioned (Niji Mahkwa and William Whyte)

9.  Political Actions

  • Our proposal to be sent to Marianne for approval
  • The Red River Ex fits under political action and community outreach (June 12 to 21)
  • Gus increased the budget somewhat
  • Greg mentioned that he thought the Women’s Committee idea of a town-hall meeting was a good idea, but, he was checking into venues and such, and found that it was way too expensive.  A bud, spud and steak was a possibility.  $10 would be enough to just break even, maybe put some $ into prizes, have some political person speak.  Charge $15 and the extra could go to a local charity.  A lively discussion ensued.
  • Gus asked how people had reacted to the “19th day of action”   Various comments ranging from awesome to bah humbug.
  • Chris mentioned that his component, UNE, was showing “We Are Wisconsin” on April 15, 5:30 to 7:30, all are welcome (maximum 40 people, please RSVP).

10.  Next meeting date is set for Monday, April 20th, 5:30 p.m.
