Minutes of Special Meeting on Childcare
12 May 2015
1- Call to order at 17:2O hrs. with welcome to sisters and brothers in attendance as this is an open meeting with guest speaker
2- No minutes of April meeting available

4- Guest Speakers: Dominique Arbez from the Child Care Coalition of Manitoba and Maureen Morrison, former CUPE member spoke about:
the state of child care in Manitoba at the moment and the need for a national childcare agenda to deal with the crisis in finding quality, affordable, not-for profit, regulated child care.
There is a need for involvement from all sectors of the community to become engaged.
The pressures placed on families in need of child care.
The benefits to not only families but the community as a whole when families have quality, affordable care like the Quebec model.
A call to action in advance of the 2015 election - spoke about upcoming events and how candidates should be asked their position on child care.
5- Both Ms. Arbez and Ms. Morrison answered questions and stayed after the meeting to speak with members who had additional questions for them.
6- Sister Gloria reminded those in attendance of the Child Care Coalition of Manitoba rally at noon on May 13 at the Manitoba Legislature. The rally will feature speakers including Ms. Arbez, Kerri lrvine-Ross, parents, Brother Chris Little-Gagne and an EC Student. PSAC is an active participant and will have stickers and bubbles for children in attendance.
