Over 100 people participated in the PSAC Regina and District Regional Women’s Committee walk on Mother’s Day to commemorate the ongoing tragedy of missing and murdered Indigenous women.
“I’m walking to come and honour my daughter Kelly and honour all the other ones who are missing and murdered,” said Maxine Goforth, whose daughter went missing and was later discovered dead in a garbage bin.

The Harper Conservatives remained intransigent to repeated grassroots appeals for an inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), but the newly elected Trudeau Liberals commtted to conducting a national inquiry and are currently engaged in pre-inquiry planning. More than 1,100 First Nations women have been murdered or are missing in Canada.
