In Attendance: Carm Chan (PSAC Staff Advisor), Marija Babic (PSAC Staff Advisor), Kim Haynes (treasurer), Dave Burchell (RVP UNE) & Darlene Lewis (NHU)
On Phone: Murray Pruden (CEIU), Randy Olynyk (RVP AGR)
1. Meeting called to order at 5:34 PM
2. Approval of agenda & minutes from previous meeting was accomplished.
3. I asked for a verbal report on the August 19th members BBQ at Canada Place. The team did a fine job serving approx. 450 members with food & info pkg. on bargaining & the federal election issues affecting PSAC members and the public.
4. We discussed the next meeting which would be the AGM. Elections will be held for 2016. We hope to combine our meeting with the Human Rights & Regional Women’s Committees. Carm to send me contact information of the chairs so I can call them about combining the December meetings. I ended up emailing them instead.
5. Signing authorities were discussed, currently only Kim Haynes, Carm Chan and Chantelle Favel-Rubenstahl (former EAC President) have authority. Usually the EAC president & Vice-President would also have authority. With the AGM being the next meeting, it was decided to leave it as is now. New people could be on the Executive in 2016.
6. Murray Pruden brought forth his intention to bring up an agenda item at the next Prairie Region Council meeting in regards to improving areas of communication between REVP and the membership. Murray also brought up how we can plan to increase the membership on the Edmonton Area Council with the help of the REVP’s office.
7. Kim Haynes did not bring an official finance report but she gave me a verbal report. We have $4875.75 in our account but still have expenses that either haven’t sent us an invoice or cheques that haven’t been cashed. The cheques are for the August 19th BBQ & the hall rental for our “All Candidates Forum” in September. The other expense was for the Remembrance Day wreath that Ben purchased. Kim stated that when these expenses are paid for our bank balance should be approx.. $1200.
8. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 PM
Respectfully submitted,
Ben Lemon
