SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE
December 5, 2016

Present:  Marlene Hoce (Chair), Daniela Aubicion, Tim Hubick, Brett Pollard
Amber joined by telephone during discussion of resolutions.

Approval of Agenda – Daniela/Tim – carried

Approval of Minutes – November 15, 2016 – Brett/Daniela – carried

Financial Update -  Marlene advised that the account was now active again at Affinity Credit Union and balance is $1943.73.  The cheques were ordered and a statement of account will be sent out soon now that account has been reactivated.   

December 10, 2016 event – the speaker is arranged from Canadian Mental Health, Deanna is to get the food and a donation of $200 will be presented to the organization at the event.  Not many RSVPs confirmed to date, however, expect a good turnout.  Poster was completed by Michelle to advertise the event.  Use of social media Facebook anticipated.  

Resolutions for Convention to be submitted by December 8th. 3 resolutions brought forward by Tim.  1). A proposed Constitutional Amendment re election of a delegate to PSAC Triennial Convention.  This was vetted from the Area Council, it was decided it was not a Human Rights Committee resolution and dropped. 2). PRC Delegates to PSAC Convention, it was discussed and it was proposed that wording be changed which Tim would do and forward corrected resolution back in time to be sent to Regional. 3)Equal Equity for LGBT resolution. It was agreed to send to Regional.    

Election of Delegate to Prairie Regional Convention.  As it requires two weeks advertising prior to the election, date has been set for Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 5:30p.m.

Other business – Martha reminded of the open house December 16, 2016.
