Glen Johnston
Westman Area Council Representative
Report for Nov 2016 – Jan 17

The first event on my calendar after the Nov PRC meeting was a WMAC General Meeting on the 9th of November.

At this meeting we held an election for the position of Westman Area Council Rep to PRC and I am pleased to say that I was acclaimed to the position.

At this meeting we also discussed our plans for the Brandon & District United Way Christmas Tree Auction. Volunteers were assigned to their tasks and discussions were held on how we would allocate funds.

The Christmas Tree Auction was held on the 2nd of December and we had both former members and new members come out for the festivities. For the first time the Army Mascot, Juno, joined us at the auction. A request had been made by the Base at Shilo and the members of the Exec thought the more the merrier. The Base Commander and RSM (Regimental Sargeant Major) also attended and we have entered into discussion on how the Base can help out at next year’s auction. The evening was a great success with a record setting $35,000 raised for the United Way initiatives in the Westman area.

Christmas break soon rolled around and I found myself getting a brief glimpse into the finance side of the house as I am also the Treasurer for our Council. I am busy compiling the data for submission of our financial report for 2016 and budget for 2017.

After the January PRC meeting the Westman Area Council will hold their AGM  in February.

Respectfully submitted,

Glen Johnston
WMAC Rep to PRC
