3. Old Business:

Lethbridge & Calgary RWC Childcare Campaign project- reached 7500 people for the last postcard, had some different negative comments.  Deb replied to the comments with facts: It offers women equality, increases the GDP of every country that has adopted a national childcare strategy.

National liked our message and our images, asked if they could use it. National campaign will be continuing their campaign and will be asking for the names of supporters that the Prairies campaign assembled.

What should this committee do with this campaign now?  We could utilize the postcards again to launch in the Fall of 2017.  This campaign could go in tandem with the Alberta and Federal childcare funding promises.  Stick with the fairy-tale theme.

Example Cinderella’s coach with the wheel fallen off, we are only half way there.  Still no more fairy tales.  You keep us hanging on….  Don’t stop now.

Equal Opportunities Conference - Online Childcare campaign was set up using our last postcard. Calgary RWC Jordan’s principle resolution passed and will go to the national floor.

-we should try to send additional women to future EO Conference as delegates are fully funded from PSAC and that may encourage more applicants

Delegates were challenged and enriched by their experiences

4. New Business:

2017 Proposed Budget Request/Breakdown – additional budget and explanation provided.

May 10th – First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada- Jordan’s Principle makes sure First Nations children receive the care and services they need, when they need them—without denial, delay, or disruption.  We can buy Teddy Bears and give to locals to bring to convention. We can also make name tags.  Hello my name is “Jordan”   to hear my story go ….  Bring bears to work.  Deb will register the event with the society.

Movie day-“Secret Marathon” combined with talking library and market.

5.  Roundtable-

Deb- will start posting on Facebook page including meeting dates, and important dates

Jenn- could we post a calendar on PSAC regional website or Facebook?  It could be tailored to us as a group.  We need to look at different ways of reaching out to union activist.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:38 p.m.

Next meeting to be held Monday May 15, 2017 which will be the AGM.
