PSAC/UCTE Host Successful Solidarity Rally At Winnipeg City Hall

About 150 people joined members of UCTE Local 50600 at City Hall for a Successful rally for striking airport workers today (Wednesday, September 27, 2017).

Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the Union of Canadian Transport Employees (UCTE) at the Winnipeg Airport will be holding a public rally at City Hall today (Wednesday, September 27, 2017) at 12 noon.

Members hightlighted that several conferences and events have been cancelled or postponed since the strike began and those economic impacts are felt by Winnipeg’s business community along with the members on strike. They will stay on the line as long as it takes to get a fair offer from Barry Rempel and the Winnipeg Airports Authority that rules out contracting out of employees' work.

Speakers included Marianne Hladun, Regional Executive Vice-President, PSAC Prairies; Kevin Rebeck, President, Manitoba Federation of Labour; Michelle Gawronsky, President, Manitoba Government and General Employees’ Union who presented a cheque for $5,000;  Bob Moroz, President, Manitoba Association of Health Care Professionals who presented a cheque for $1,500; and  Mona Simcoe, Regional VP Saskatchewan and manitoba, Union of National Defense Employees, who presented a cheque for $11,817.

Jacques Legare, President of UCTE Local 50600, accepted these donations and spoke of the gratitude picketing members have for the solidarity they have been shown.
