Monthly General Meeting

October 17th, 2017

7:30 - 8:30 pm - London Drugs Community Room

Attendance:

  2. Review and approval of the previous meeting’s minutes

  3. Treasurer’s Report
    • Bank statement as of September 30th 2017 $4415.30
    • Outstanding commitments
      1. $200 for Sister’s in Spirit Vigil
      2. $125 for Person’s Day Breakfast
      3. $100 UofL Menstruation Drive
    • Remaining Bank Balance $3990.30

4. Old Business

  • Sister’s in Spirit Vigil (October 4th)
    • Members of our committee were in attendance
  • University of Lethbridge Women’s Centre Menstruation Drive
    • K. Munns to purchase tampons and pads to be donated to the UofL Women’s Centre

5. New and Ongoing Business

  • PRC Women’s Representative Sister Deb Kosteniuk     
    1. Identified four women related priorities to focus on
      1. Domestic Violence
      2. Murdered and Missing Aboriginal Women
      3. Pay Equity
      4. National Childcare campaign   
    2. Women’s Retreat Nov 24-26, 2017 – PSAC Calgary Office
      1. Movie night Friday November 24th 
      2. Meet together to discuss action plans for our region based on our priorities
  • Persons Day Breakfast (Oct 18th, 2018)
    • LRWC donated $125 to cover speaker cost of the event
  • Take Back the Night – Friday October 20th @ 6:30pm
    • Members to attend the YWCA event held in Lethbridge

6. Dec 6th National Day of Action

  • No plans in place as of yet
  • Discuss with the YMCA to see if there is plans for a vigil that night

7. Roundtable

  • Holiday Giving Project next meeting
  • Potluck gather at S. Erb’s home

Next Meeting: Thursday December 7th. Sr. D. Possiant to chair
