-Accept agenda by consensus

          Motion carried.

2. Minutes from previous meetings- May 29, 2017. Jenn moves to accept the minutes as presented. Stephanie seconds. All in favour

3. Old Business:

We received our allocation, for our approved budget from the REVP for $2200.

The allocation was granted after we met the additional conditions (post May 2016 meeting minutes, remember to record voided cheques in register and ensure bank charges recorded properly in register). Cheque was deposited today – there was the usual struggle with our Financial Institution because the cheque did not read payable to “PSAC Calgary Regional Women’s Committee (it read Calgary RWC) and it took a couple tries before TDCT accepted it.

Sisters in Spirit- This year’s theme is Silent No More. Similar to last year, following Stephen Ave and 3rd Street SW to Olympic Plaza. It is requested that those of us who work downtown and have a half hour lunch come and show support and represent PSAC? October 4, 2017 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Edmonton RWC Rally- In support of National Childcare Program. Join them if you can. September 16.

Orange Shirt Day- This year we aren’t organizing anything other than requesting people to just wear Orange Shirts; Deb will get Regional Office to send an email blast. September 30.

PSAC office Housewarming party- Marianne Hladun and Robyn Benson will be in attendance and we are all invited/encouraged to attend. October 12.

- The Committees can each do a small presentation/poster on who they are and what they do. We’re expecting a reasonable amount of traffic through the office. Make a poster with a photo of each of the exec as well as a write up about coming out to RWC meetings (as few or as many meetings as you like). Maybe we could get some posters of the Childcare Cartoons we did blown up ($5 each at Costco) and put in a budget to get them mounted to hang in the new Boardroom. Deb will email committee to see if anyone else is interested, but otherwise she will design the poster.

National Pharmacare Plan Advocacy Training- CLC is leading a campaign for this. Training will be provided by Friends of Medicare for those who are interested, at the AUPE office. October 5

Working with Indigenous People Affected by Intergenerational Trauma and Grief Training Course- offered by Awo Taan, Cost is $100. October 23 and 24.

“A Woman’s Place is in Her Union” has been revamped into a retreat! All RWC Members are encouraged to enrol and participate. Kirsten and Arliss to look at training as facilitators for this course. November 25 and 26.  Instead of doing a Dec 6 event this year, we’re wondering about doing a movie night with a café table discussion afterwards in conjunction with this weekend. Perhaps watch After the Montreal Massacre (NFB), Deb has a copy so it would be free. We could do an activity and watch the video on Friday night as a precursor to the retreat weekend, and as part of the 16 days of Activism. Then can promote events that will be occurring related to National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women on December 6. November 24.

National Childcare Program- We’ve done our actions to draw attention and there have been a few baby-steps forward by the Alberta and Federal governments, but we still have a long way to go. Deb’s idea is to have a youtube video and have this action ready to go in January. “Baby Steps are fine, but we are grown ups and we need grown up action.” “1 step, 2 step, but we still aren’t there!” Meeting/planning session in November.

International Women’s Day - March 8

PSAC National Triennial Convention - April 30- May 4, 2018.

This year the RWCs from the Prairies put together some wonderful resolutions (Jordan’s Principle, Aboriginal Women who are victims of crime, etc). We have two delegates, Michelle and Gwen and we would like them to petition for a role on a Resolutions committee to support these resolutions. We would then like to have our delegates at convention to lobby the components to support these resolutions. All through email and contact with delegates.

Bear Witness Day- Deb is already collecting small sized teddy bears so we’ll be ready for an event. May 10

Public Interest Alberta, Low Wage facts. A poster of facts and stats was provided so we are aware and have it for other upcoming events.

Ideas: October 16 – World Food Day and May 28 – World Hunger Day so we could do a food bank drive with the locals for one of these. Maybe May so it’s not in the middle of United Way and Stuff the Food Bank with Mac & Cheese etc.
