Send your kid to camp

The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) 2013 Solidarity Kid’s Camp of Manitoba will be held August 18‐24 at Caddy Lake Camp in the Whiteshell.

The PSAC Prairie Region Council has approved funding to pay the registration fee for a child of a PSAC member. If no requests are received, the money will be sent to the Solidarity Kid’s Camp as a donation.

This week long camp focuses on issues relevant to young people. It addresses challenges facing young people, including social justice and equality issues. The Solidarity Kid's Camp of Manitoba combines learning with cooperative activities and loads of guaranteed fun. See the attached flyer (below) for more information on the camp.

Any member interested in submitting the name of a child ages 10 to 15 should submit an application and short essay (approximately 100 words) answering the question, “What can a Union do for me?” Please include your component, local, and contact information (phone and/or email). Following the camp, the selected participants will be required to submit a report of activities to the Prairie Region Council.

The deadline to submit applications is Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at noon. Applicants will be notified if their child has been selected for the subsidy. Submit applications by email to davisa@psac.com or by fax to (204) 943‐0652.

Please pass this information along to members in your local that have children who might be interested in this opportunity.
