Report to the Prairie Region Council
April 2013
Since the last meeting in October 2012 the months have been flowing by.
We continue to hold meetings for the WMAC on a regular basis. We struggle to have participation by locals in the area. I meet with Tracy to see if we could formulate a plan to travel to the locals to talk about PSAC Prairie Region as well as the Westman Area Council and the Westman Area Women’s Group. We continue to try to add members to the Women’s Committee.
I attended the PSAC Prairie Region Education Meeting in November which was held in Brandon and was able to have input as it may affect our members in the area.
I attended a meeting hosted by the BDLC/NDP that was attended by Pat Martin, MP for WPG Centre as well as another MP from Quebec City. I was able to speak to them on the RAND Bill as well as our Code of Conduct.
I participated in the Solidarity Kid’s Camp of Manitoba committee by conference call.
I have been participating in the steering committee for the PSAC Prairie Region Regionals Women’s Conference.
I attend the Brandon District Labour Council meetings when time allows. BDLC held a “We Are All Affected” gathering on November 9, 2012. There were a number of speakers and numerous members from the community that participated.
In December the Area Council again participated in the United Way Christmas Tree Auction. The United Way raised a record breaking $21,000 from the auction of 12 trees. It was an exciting event. We may be able to entice someone to dress up as an elf next year so we can increase the money raised.
I will attending the National PSAC Health and Safety Conference as a delegate in April 2013.
