Report to the Prairie Region Council

Since the last Prairie Region Convention in October, 2011 it has been pretty quiet in our area. We continue to hold Westman Area meetings and encourage members to attend. We held the first Area Women’s Committee meeting on February 23, 2012.
The WestMan Area Council participated in the United Way Christmas Tree auction in Brandon on December 9, 2011. Pictures were put on the Prairie Region website. A tree was decorated and auctioned off; $1,150 was raised. The Christmas Tree Auction raised $17,000 in total for the United Way. The WestMan Area tree was given to a family in Brandonwith 2 children aged 3 and 17.
Starting in January, in conjunction with CEIU, a campaign was initiated to bring awareness to the public that EI processing is leaving Manitoba. There is one bus in Brandon with an ad “Speak Up Manitoba, … Call the Office of Client Satisfaction…” which was running February 6 to March 3. Refer to the Prairie Region website for pictures.
