Do you know someone who has made a health and safety contribution in the workplace and should be recognized? The SFL's Occupational Health and Safety Committee would like to hear from you. Please complete and return the attached nomination form to the SFL. The closing date for nominations is October 6, 2014. The award will be presented at the SFL Annual Convention.

The Saskatchewan Federation of Labour will hold the 2014 Occupational Health and Safety Conference September 11-12, 2014 at the Ramada Plaza in Regina, Saskatchewan. This conference is open to SFL affiliates, which includes all PSAC locals, with workshops assigned on a first registered, first choice basis.Please note: the courses offered as part of the conference are based on provincial health and safety legislation, not federal.

As a result of a major strategy conference held in Toronto last November, the Green Economy Network (GEN) is working with representatives of local and regional groups such as unions, environment groups, social justice networks, First Nations, and youth organizations, plus representatives from GEN member groups.

The Manitoba Federation of Labour will hold its annual Health & Safety Conference November 17-18, 2014 at Canada Inns Polo Park under the theme "Health and Safety through the Eyes of the Union".

The Al Cerilli Manitoba Federation of Labour Scholarship is a $500 award presented annually by the MFL Young Members Committee to a member of an MFL affiliated union enrolled in a continuing education or post-secondary program.

PSAC was one of several unions, civil liberties and business groups presenting to the Supreme Court of Canada, May 16, 2014, in the case of essential services legislation passed by the Saskatchewan government in 2008.

Public Interest Alberta, the Parkland Institute, and other partner organizations will be hosting a provincial tour to help Albertans learn more about Alberta’s tax system and to hear from people what their priorities are for what Alberta Could do if we had a progressive income tax and fair corporate taxes.
