Dear Sisters & Brothers,
Regrettably, Bill C-377, a private member's bill that directly attacks unions by driving up operating costs unnecessarily, is moving ahead with full force and will go to a final vote next week on Wednesday, December 12. If passed, this senseless legislation would be detrimental to all working families and crush many smaller unions and labour organizations in the process, who will be unable to keep up with the expensive and onerous requirements.
Although, by process, this Bill is sponsored by a private member, make no mistake, Stephen Harper and his Conservative lackeys are behind this initiative 100 per cent and will vote in favour of it. That means we have five days to take action and demand that our MPs stand up for workers rights and vote against Bill C-377 next Wednesday.
The CLC has launched a national online petition and it's crucial that everyone takes part in this e-mail action and promotes this to their networks.
Members can also contact their MPs via email, phone, write on their Facebook wall or mention them on Twitter (if applicable). All of these avenues should be utilized. The more messages we can send, the louder our collective voices will be, and the bigger impact we will have.
