Apply for the 2012 Prairies Health & Safety Conference

PSAC PRAIRIE REGIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY CONFERENCE
"MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE: BUILDING A BULLY FREE WORK ENVIRONMENT"

Novermber 17 & 18, 2012 / Edmonton, AB (Holiday Inn Express Downtown)

The 2012 Prairie Regional Health and Safety Conference is coming up quickly on November 17-18 in Edmonton, Alberta.  Plans are well under way and we are looking forward to a meaningful, productive and very successful conference.

In response to the continually growing number of concerns brought forward by members and in response to member supported resolutions from the Prairie Region Triennial Convention, the overall theme will deal with Mental Health in the Workplace with particular attention to the impact and prevention of bullying.  We will work together in a variety of formats in order to provide tools, resources and confidence to you in how to deal with these issues and the negative impacts that have perpetrated so many of our workplaces.

Below, you can download and print the application form for the 2012 Prairie Regional Health and Safety Conference and the template for submitting resolutions. You may also apply online.  We are looking forward to a great conference and positive meaningful results.  To accomplish this, it is vital that health and safety activists from the across the Prairies take part in the deliberations and sharing of expertise.

Please note that the application deadline is September 20, 2012.  We realize this is tight, but we encourage everyone who is interested to make the effort to get this completed.  In order for the application to be considered complete, the $50.00 registration fee must be included.  The selection process will be completed after that date in order to allow final preparations for the November 17-18 conference.

The main purpose of including conference time for the presentation and discussion of resolutions is to highlight health and safety issues and begin the process of their positive resolution.   Resolutions should be general in nature and provide direction to PSAC in establishing priorities and resources.  Issues specific to a workplace or employer should be directed to the applicable Local and/or Component.   Resolutions that are supported at the Prairies Regional Health & Safety Conference will move forward to the PSAC National Health & Safety Conference.  It should be noted that the National Conference will not be taking place until late in 2014, according to currently available information.  There will be a report back on all resolutions that are submitted.

Your Prairie Region Council Health and Safety Committee – Sister Nancy Johnson (SK), Brother Clint Wirth (MB) and Brother Alec Goertzen (AB) – are looking forward to a great conference and looking forward to as many people as possible being involved.

If you have questions, concerns or any input please contact a committee member or Brother Bruce Campbell, the PSAC staff member responsible, at (204) 947-1601.
