The Manitoba region includes members in Winnipeg, Brandon and surrounding areas who serviced out of the Winnipeg Regional Office, responsible for more than 8,000 members across Manitoba.

Each year on October 4, communities across Canada come together to honour the lives of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls. As we do so, we remember the lives of sisters, daughters, mothers and grandmothers tragically taken from us. We also support grieving families and provide opportunities for healing.

 The Career Transition Café is a two-day event for Opting and Surplus Employees to help manage their transition, to make informed decisions regarding their options and to empower them moving forward.

All employees at the Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development (CAHRD) will now benefit from improved working conditions and free collective bargaining, as nearly 100 workers, ranging from employment counselors to childcare workers and teachers, join the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).

On September 15 the Public Service Alliance of Canada held a National Day of Action from coast to coast to coast. PSAC members, community advocates and concerned citizens alike gathered together at various events across the Prairies to celebrate the public services they value most. These services are being jeopardized or damaged by the ongoing federal cuts. We are ALL affected by the cuts to federal services and jobs imposed by the Conservative government.

PSAC members in Winnipeg invited the community to an event at Memorial Park with local entertainment, face painting for the kids and free refreshments. Attendees signed the 100 ft. banner to let Steven Harper know how cuts to public services have affected our communities. Robyn Benson, PSAC National President, spoke on the impact of the cuts and the importance of protecting public services for all Canadians. Click any photo to view the entire Winnipeg Day of Action photo album. The Community Unemployed Help Centre (CUHC) presents the Aspiring Advocates Workshop. There are two dates to choose from for this special, full-day workshop, September 18 (currently full and taking names for the waiting list) and September 26 (there are a few seats still available). Due to the overwhelming popularity of this workshop, we encourage interested members to register as soon as possible. The poster and application can be downloaded below.
