In June, the United Way of Saskatoon and Area said goodbye and thank you to Marianne Hladun for six years of service to the organization and our community. Marianne served as a United Way board member from June 2006 – June 2012. We were not able to thank Marianne publicly at the United Way AGM as she was already hard at work in Winnipeg as Regional Executive Vice-President for the PSAC Prairie Region.

Each year on October 4, communities across Canada come together to honour the lives of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls. As we do so, we remember the lives of sisters, daughters, mothers and grandmothers tragically taken from us. We also support grieving families and provide opportunities for healing.

As part of the Regional Office Team, the Administrative Assistant provides comprehensive administrative services that enable the Regional Office to fulfill its role in a timely and credible manner.

Dear Sisters & Brothers,The next meeting of the Prairie Region Council (PRC) will be held on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13 in Regina, Saskatchewan. As per the PSAC Prairie Region By-Laws, Section 7(a), the PRC shall meet in session at least two times a year or upon the request of two-thirds of its members, to conduct a special meeting. 

Take Back the Night is an annual march to end violence in the community. Join us for the 2012 Saskatoon event on Thurs. Sept. 27 at 7:00 p.m.

On September 15 the Public Service Alliance of Canada held a National Day of Action from coast to coast to coast. PSAC members, community advocates and concerned citizens alike gathered together at various events across the Prairies to celebrate the public services they value most. These services are being jeopardized or damaged by the ongoing federal cuts. We are ALL affected by the cuts to federal services and jobs imposed by the Conservative government.

PSAC members in Saskatoon held a pancake breakfast for the Sept. 15 National Day of Action, with proceeds going to the Saskatoon United Way. The fun, family-friendly event included games for children, entertainment by the Raging Grannies and guest speakers Marianne Hladun, Regional Executive Vice-President for the PSAC Prairie Region and Andrea Howe of the United Way. Click any photo to view the entire Saskatoon Day of Action photo album.
