Annual fundraising drives for United Ways across the Prairies have kicked off and we’re asking PSAC members to reach into their pockets and continue their pattern of giving generously. Supporting this important community-focused charity is one of the best and most effective ways to reach out into your local community.
The labour movement has a long-standing relationship and shares an important vision with the United Way. Together, we work toward building a stronger, healthier community with a wide range of accessible, universal and high-quality social services accessible to all citizens.
For as little as $2 per week, the price of a cup of coffee, you could provide a year’s worth of emergency rations for youth in crisis. For just $5 per week, you can help five women get training in basic childcare and matched with employment opportunities.
I was honoured to serve as the Labour Representative on the United Way of Saskatoon and Area’s Board of Directors for two consecutive terms. During that time I visited agencies that receive funding from United Way. I saw first hand how essential the funding is to the work they do in our communities and how every penny is utilized. Without your donations to United Way, it wouldn’t be possible.
This year, make a difference in your community and open a door to real and lasting change, and a better life for everyone.
In Solidarity,
