REVP Letter: 2011 Federal Budget

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

As you may already know, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty will be unveiling the 2011 Federal Budget tomorrow, Tues. Mar. 22, at 4:00 p.m. EST.

It is widely suspected that the Harper government is looking to combat the $56-billion deficit with massive job cuts, something myself and the PSAC proper vehemently denounce. We fight everyday to protect our public services and, Brothers and Sisters, that battle wages on.

But in addition to the possible job cuts, we will be watching the budget closely for how it will impact other important issues including child care, pensions and retirement security, wages, regulations and public safety, and putting an end to corporate tax cuts.

PSAC will be live-tweeting reactions to the budget from Parliament Hill on Tuesday and I encourage all of our members to follow the updates at http://twitter.com/psacnat . You can also check the PSAC National Facebook page for information as it becomes available http://www.facebook.com/psac.national .

After the budget is announced we can begin to plan, within our region and our union, an action plan to fight back against this government’s ongoing attacks to public services.

In Solidarity,
