Meeting Today's Challenges in Our Workplaces & Supporting Strong Activists to the Benefits of All Workers

The Prairies PSAC Region is happy to host a Young Workers Conference for self-identified Young Workers (ages 35 and under) at the Chateau Lacombe Hotel in Edmonton, Alberta from Friday, April 13th to Sunday, April 15th. The conference theme is Advancing Labour and will bring together activists from the 3 provinces to discuss issues that Young Workers may face in the workplace, activism for PSAC Young Workers, and current topics pertinent to Young Workers.  The conference will be comprised of speakers, activities, workshops and opportunities for networking.

The deadline for responses is Friday, September 8, 2017.

The 2016 PSAC Prairies Regional Women's Conference is taking place in Winnipeg MB on June 11 and 12, 2016. As sisters gather from across the prairies, our objective is to have conference participants reach out and involve other members to build our women's committees and mobilize to contribute collectively to social change. Workshops are currently being developed that will educate participants on strategies to better protect and support sisters who are victims of domestic violence; identify the union's role in advancing the PSAC Pan-Canadian campaign on childcare and promote greater security and human rights protections for Aboriginal women.   

During the 2015 Prairie Region Health & Safety Conference, PSAC Prairies members were treated to a rousing and informative keynote speech by Dr. Leigh Quesnel of HQS Consulting Services on the topic of "Towards a Healthy Workplace: Understanding Psychological Harassment and Bullying."  Dr. Quesnel specializes in such areas as workplace wellness, creating respectful workplaces, managing bullying and psycholgical harassment, and stress management, among others.

The 2015 Prairie Region Health & Safety Conference was held November 21-22, 2015 in Winnipeg with over 60 PSAC members in attendance from across the Prairies.

The 2015 PSAC Prairie Region Health and Safety Conference will be held November 21 - 22 in Winnipeg. The overall theme will deal with the current challenges in dealing with employers, with particular attention to the roles of Workplace Health and Safety Committees, and the challenges faced by committee members. 

From September 23-24, 2014, PSAC welcomed 22 members from various Separate Employer Locals and Directly Chartered Locals for the Prairies Separate Employers Conference in Regina, Saskatchewan.
