Prairie Regional Health & Safety Conference Registration - November 2018

Meeting Today's Challenges in Our Workplaces & Supporting Strong Activists to the Benefits of All Workers

THEME:  The overall theme will focus on psychological threats in our workplaces by examining the current legislation, including Regulation XX of the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, as well as examining and preparing for proposed changes to this Regulation through Bill C-65. Discussion will include reference to applicable Provincial legislation for members covered under those provisions. We will work together in a variety of formats in order to provide tools, resources, skills and confidence to ensure workplace issues are dealt with appropriately.

Health and Safety Issues:  What Health & Safety concerns do you have in your in your workplace?  Do you have a question for PSAC Staff, or PSAC elected officials?  Information gathered will help shape the conference as we plan our agenda.  There may also be an opportunity to have your questions and concerns discussed in a large group, panel discussion, as part of the agenda.

The Radisson Hotel Saskatoon, (https://www.radisson.com/saskatoon-hotel-sk-s7k6x6/sksaskat?s_cid=os.ame... The Conference will begin on Friday, November 16, 2018 and conclude on mid afternoon on Sunday, November 18, 2018.  Those members in travel status for this conference, as per the PSAC Travel Policy will travel to Saskatoon on Friday, November 16, 2018 in the afternoon and depart late afternoon, early evening on Sunday November 18, 2018, depending on flight options at the time of the conference.

PSAC Policies are in Effect - No Smoking & Scent-free Environments.  Participants are asked to refrain from using scented products & smoking only in designated areas during the Conference. Many members have severe allergies & chemical sensitivities to scents & smoke. We anticipate your cooperation with these policies.  The Accessibility & Travel Policies can be found on the National PSAC website

Participant Questionnaire:
Due to anticipated high level of interest, priority will be given to identified members as active in Health & Safety.

It is the responsibility of applicants to have their Local President (or designate of the local President) or RVP/NVP confirm that the applicant is an active and involved member of a workplace Health and Safety Committee, a Policy committee, or Health and Safety Representative selected by the Local.  Priority will also be given to Component/DCL Representatives on the newly formed PSAC Prairie Region Health and Safety Committee.

For this conference, there will also be the ability for participants not selected by the PSAC to be a fully funded participant to still attend. There will be participant seats available to those that are funded to attend by their respective component or local. Further information on this process will be shared in an upcoming communication.

Conference Environment

SMOKE AND SCENT FREE:  All PSAC events, including this conference, are smoke-free. To assist members with environmental sensitivities, this conference will be a scent-free event as much as possible. Suggestions for a scent-free environment will be provided to confirmed conference participants.
