Thank you to everyone who joined the Telephone Town Hall last night to discuss the Work Force Adjustment process.
Due to the large sample of numbers we were calling (over 23,000 PSAC Prairies members), not everyone received the call as planned, or, members received the call, but experienced technical difficulties. Our sincerest apologies go to any member who experienced this.
Unfortunately, there is always a small number of intended participants who do not receive the TTH call. This is mainly due to their phone carrier rejecting the TTH call, which is relatively random and it is never the case that a carrier will reject all TTH calls. Stratcom has assured us that they are always working to address these instances and reduce the amount they happen.
The other reason a TTH call may not get through is because the phone system in the area is momentarily overwhelmed by the number of calls into that area by the TTH. We address most of these instances of a call not making it by having our TTH set to try calling a number a maximum three times if there is no answer (live or answering machine). So if the TTH tries to call a number at 7:04pm and for one of the above reasons does not make it, the TTH will try them again a couple of minutes later (and if need be try calling them a third time a few minutes after the second try).
Still, it is truly unfortunate that some members who would have liked to be on the call were unable to participate due to technical difficulties. We will, however, be posting the audio from the call, as well as the questions and answers, on the Prairie Region website so that all members, including those who had prior engagements that night or were unable to connect, can still benefit from the discussion.
If you have follow-up questions about the WFA process, you can still submit them. You can also let us know how the federal government cuts are affecting you and your workplaces.
